Waterways of Indonesia honored with event
Procession to follow the path of Bali's waterways
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 18 January, 2013 : - - Kuta, Bali -- Coca Cola Amatil Indonesia (CCAI), Surftime Magazine And Deus Ex Machina are proud to announce the Source to the Sea environmental initiative project that will take place on January 19th and 20th. SOS (Source to the Sea) is the second half of the Put Up Or Shut Up Freesurfing Championship that took place in late 2012 at Grajagan in Java.
The event was won by Tai Graham with Coca-Cola Surf Team Dede Suryana, Tipi Jabrik, and Mustofa Jeksen participating, along with Uluwatu’s Made Lana, Billabong’s Rahtu Suargita, and American Chris Ward. Each invitee to the Put Up Free Surfing Championship signed a manifesto on the night of the Awards ceremony sealing a promise to honor all Indonesian waterways and Oceans.
The SOS project will be led by the Coca Cola Surf Team Dede Suryana, Mustofa Jeksen, and Tipi Jabrik, who is also CCAI’s own CSR Ambassador. On the afternoon of the 19th, CCAI is inviting all ocean minded people to join in on an environmental initiative that involves traveling up to the sacred Volcano of Mt. Batur overlooking Lake Batur.
Lake Batur is the source of all the water of South Bali and at dawn, the procession will climb Mt. Batur to its Summit of 2321 meters where all involved with participate in a ceremony that will honor all the waterways of Indonesia and give thanks for the surf spots they help provide.
After the descent, the procession will continue by following the great Bali waterways and rivers down to the Deus Temple of Enthusiasm in Canggu raising awareness about keeping our waterways and rivers clean in a number of villages along the way.
“My personal feelings are that we must not only maintain but improve our environment” Says ISC CEO and Coca Cola Surfing Ambassador Tipi Jabrik. “Our water, our air, our oceans. Everything. It is our lives and the lives of our children that we are talking about here. I am proud to be joining in with the rest of the Coca Cola surfing Ambassador team for the Source to the Sea Proyek. We are doing something about our environment together. Everybody should”.
During this procession on the 20th, four great simultaneous beach cleanups, involving the locals, Surfers, Government and Banjar leaders, will be taking place at Echo Beach, Barawa beach, Padang Padang beach and Uluwatu.
After a late afternoon surf expression session at Echo beach by all involved, the entire procession will march to the Deus Temple of Enthusiasm where a fundraising party will kick off in style featuring some of the most talented musical artists the island has to offer.
It is sure to be a memorable evening of music and celebration of our great environment as the fundraiser gets underway to raise money for ROLE FOUNDATION, ECO SURF RESCUE ULUWATU, and the Padang Padang Children's Garbage brigade.
There will be plenty of refreshments, a surfboard raffle and unending fun as we celebrate our great environment and all the joy it provides for us late into the night.
